Basketball

Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, typically consisting of five players each, compete to score points by throwing a ball through the opposing team’s hoop, which is elevated 10 feet above the ground. The game is played on a rectangular court, with a hoop at each end. Players advance the ball by dribbling (bouncing the ball while moving) or passing it to teammates. The objective is to accumulate more points than the opposing team by shooting the ball through the hoop, which scores two points for standard shots and three points for shots taken from beyond the three-point line. Basketball combines physical skill, strategy, teamwork, and athleticism and is played at various levels, from amateur to professional, with notable leagues including the NBA (National Basketball Association) in the United States. The sport emphasizes quick movements, agility, and coordination, making it a popular and dynamic activity globally.
